Peter had a big impact on my career as a genetic counsellor. His book, Practical Genetic Counselling, was my first encounter with his brilliant, very accessible writing. First published 40 years ago this year, it is still required reading for any aspiring genetic counsellor. The principles he taught me and countless others are as relevant today as ever, perhaps even more so in the new world of genomics and big data. His prolific work on Huntington’s Disease inspired my Masters dissertation, a copy sits proudly on my bookshelf. I am so fortunate to have learned so much from Peter and privileged to have known such a fine, thoughtful and kind human being. Andrew
